Learning Outcomes

- Frame the history of the UC within the context of Portuguese society and culture;

- Grasp the fundamental role of the UC in the Portuguese cultural and scientific development;

- Demonstrate the projection of the UC on a global scale;

- Understand the role of the UC in the education of the overseas elites and thekingdom’selites;

- Reflect on the creation and development of a specific student culture;

- Propose a scientifically founded pedagogical intervention on the specific themes developed in the context of the curricular unit.

 

Students who finish this course will be qualified to:

- Have a critical knowledge of the broad lines of the history of the UC in its relation with society, culture and power;

- Identify the contributions of university education towards the development of culture and science in the different ages of the History of Portugal;

- Acquire skills to be able to conduct a deeper critical evaluation of the history of the UC.
