Teaching Methods

•    Individual and collective production of different types of written texts;
•    Use of revision techniques for text improvement;
•    Comprehension/interpretation of written texts;
•    Teacher-students and student-student verbal interaction (presentation of topics for writing; preparatory discussion before writing; oral debates);
•    Simulation of everyday situations in order to promote spoken interaction making use of different language registers;
•    Metalinguistic reflection;
•    Theoretical explanation;
•    Application of rules and topics addressed in language use situations.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the semester, students should be able to:

i) understand the main ideas of complex oral and written texts;

ii) take part in conversations on familiar and relevant topics, spontaneously and fluently;

iii) produce relatively complex oral and written texts of different types;

iv) write texts which respect the basic rules of textual coherence and cohesion.
