Methods

•              Presentation of topics by teacher

•              Production exercises:

o              dialogues;

o              descriptive texts;

o              expository texts;

o              narratives;

•              listening comprehension exercises – dialogues and short narratives.

Learning Outcomes

(Listening comprehension: The student understands the main ideas of utterances and relevant explicit information on everyday experiences and topics, conveyed in simple sentences and with a basic repertoire of words when people speak slowly and very clearly.

Oral production: The student can produce short monologues previously prepared, describe everyday situations, personal experiences and current or past events, and express opinions and preferences on current topics; uses a limited repertoire of phrases and applies basic grammar structures; pronounces clearly enough to be understood.

Spoken interaction: The student can interact in previously prepared everyday situations, relying on the interlocutor’s discourse; pronounces a limited repertoire of simple sentences in an intelligible way using very basic grammar structures.

(Functional use of speech:

•              Self introductions, greetings and farewells;

•              Talking about:

o              occupation, home and family;

o              leisure activities;

o              food and eating habits;

o              travel and types  of lodging;

•              Asking and telling numbers and addresses, time and date;

•              Making wishes, congratulating, thanking and apologizing;

•              Asking for and giving information on transportation and routes;

•              Locating in time and space;

•              Describing:

o              objects;

o              physical and psychological states;

•              Narrating daily life events.

Participating in a simple conversation about personal experiences, expressing opinions and feelings.
