Teaching Methods

At the beginning of the 1st semester the research topics available are assigned to students according to predefined criteria. It is intended that the student develops the theme autonomously. A set of periodic meetings between the student and the supervisor is conducted during the semester to check the progress of the work and overcome difficulties.

Learning Outcomes

Thesis aims at the realization of an individual scientific and /or technological research work on a subject of the knowledge area of the master. This work aims at the integration and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during the course. This thesis may be a research work carried out in the laboratories of CEMUC/DEM or the application of tribology tools in an industrial environment. In tthis case the work will be partially carried out in an industrial partner company selected according to its ability to provide interesting subjects and to ensure proper co-guidance to the student. The result of the work developed throughout the thesis must originate a written document and will be evaluated by a jury composed by teachers from UC belonging to specialty area of the developed theme (at least of two universities of the consortium.

Thesis corresponds to a individual work plan previously defined by the supervisor(s). Generally the work will involve developing: detailed definition of the problem to be analyzed; literature review, development and / or application of models; collection and quantification of results, preparation of the synthesis report; final public presentation assessed by a jury.
