Introduction to Educational Research.

The Disciplines (2) of the Didactic of Physics of the 1st year of this cycle.

Teaching Methods

This is a tutorial curricular unit that is supervised or co-supervised by teaching staff of the Physics Department. The students´ assessment is translated in a mark awarded by a juri based on: i) the work undertaken by each student, ii) the written report concerned and iii)  the public presentation and discussion.

Learning Outcomes

- Promote continuous self-education in scientific, pedagogical-didactic and relational fields

- Respect cultural, social, civic and ethical dimensions

- Identify a research problem and formulate research objectives

- Contextualize the research and justify its pertinency and importance

- Read and analise publications concerning research in science education and undertake bibliographic search to justify, plan and undertake the research, extract conclusions, indicate implications and identify limitations

- Elaborate an adequately structured written report of the research undertaken that includes the bibliographic references used appropriately indicated

Syllabus

The syllabus will be in accordance with the project's theme of educational research to be agreed between the student and the supervisors. The theme is taken jointly by the scientific supervisor and cooperative guidance of each student, in view of the proposed objectives. In particular, it should be borne in mind that the topic to be addressed in this course will be applied in the school environment related to the supervised teaching practice. The realization of Educational Research projects depends on the organization's activities and stage distribution by components of Physics. This organization depends on the school where the product Stage Pedagócico and distribution of teaching experience guiding the cooperative.

The research project must comply with the ethical, civic and socio-cultural aspects of scientific research with human participants.
