Teaching Methods

Expository teaching with constant reference to physical systems whose description can interest to students of mechanical engineering. The reference to situations of everyday life, that can be explained using the concepts of physics that are learned in the course, will be emphasized. The usefulness and importance of physics, as a structuring discipline in courses of sciences and technologies, will be illustrated.

Learning Outcomes

Recognize and use basic concepts and principles of physics, and use of appropriate methods and techniques in physics, applying them in situations and to systems with interest for mechanical engineering.

Recognize the importance of physical interpretation and explanation of phenomena in the area of engineering sciences, in particular, and science and technology, in general.

Prepare, process, interpret and communicate physical information using relevant bibliographical sources, speaking appropriately and the proper tools.
