Teaching Methods

This is a tutorial curricular unit supervised/co-supervised by academic staff of Biology/Geology from the Life Sciences and Earth Sciences Departments. The concepts associated with the research on Education will be analysed, whenever possible, with the collaboration of invited teachers/researchers that develop research in Science Education.

Learning Outcomes

The main objectives of this curricular unit are to design, plan and implement a research project on Biology or on Geology Education, depending on the grade level in which the students will do the internship teaching.

The students should:

1. Identify a research problem and formulate research objectives;

2. Contextualize and demonstrate the importance of research;

3. Search for scientific papers in Sciences Education (Biology/Geology) related with the scientific contents;

4. Have the skills to plan, perform the tasks proposed in the research project and analyse the data in Biology/Geology;

5. Produce a written report, adequately structured, and make an oral communication.

Design, plan and develop of a research project related with the Biology or Geology Education, depending on the grade level in which the students will do the internship teaching, applying the knowledge acquired in the curricular unit Educational Research Project I.
