Teaching Methods

Oral sections with detailed audiovisual supports and small films that illustrate the immune system functions.

Evaluation by individual presentation of a scientific paper in the field, of original research and in English, choosed by the student. The paper is presented and discussed by all the students present in the class.

Learning Outcomes

To understand the effects of exercise, both chronic and acute in the immune system. To understand the effects of regular moderate exercise in the immune system and the possible health benefits that may issue. To understand the effect of training and training loads in the immune system.

Introduction to the immune system. Acute exercise effects in the immune system. Regular moderate exercise effects in the immune system. Immunosenescence and exercise. Chronic exercise effects in the immune system. How to prevent infection and disease in the athletes. Overtraining and the immune system. How to monitor immune parameters during training.
