Teaching Methods
As an introductory course, the teaching method adopted will alternate between the theoretical exposition and the discussion of case studies. It is intended to stimulate the intervention of students in the dynamization of classes and debates, encouraging the search for practical examples that illustrate the themes under analysis. The active participation of students in discussions is valued.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to inspire students’ awareness for the complexity that involves human behaviour in organizations, as well as to stimulate their critical reflection on the importance of people management in the organizational context.
At the end of the curricular unit it is expected that the student is able to:
a) Understand the influence of individual variables in determining behaviour in the organizational context;
b) Understand the dynamics of group and organizational processes and their impact on human behaviour and on the organizational effectiveness;
c) Identify strategies to intervene in the organization, namely in the areas of motivation, conflict management, negotiation, leadership and change management;
c) Reflect on the challenges of managing people and groups in the organizational context.
