Teaching Methods
As an introductory course, the teaching method adopted will alternate between the theoretical exposition and the discussion of real/realistic case studies, in order to clearly articulate theoretical knowledge with practice. It is intended to stimulate the active participation of students, encouraging the search for practical examples that illustrate the topics under analysis. The active participation of students in discussions is encouraged and valued.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to inspire students’ awareness for the complexity that involves human behaviour in organizations, as well as to stimulate their critical reflection on the importance of people management in the organizational context.
At the end of the curricular unit it is expected that the student is able to:
1. Understand the influence of individual variables in determining behaviour in the organizational context;
2. Understand the dynamics of group and organizational processes and their impact on human behaviour and on organizational effectiveness;
3. Identify strategies to intervene in the organization, namely in the areas of motivation, conflict management, negotiation, leadership and organizational culture management;
4. Reflect on the challenges of managing people and groups in the organizational context.
