Recommended Prerequisites
General Physics I: contents and developed competences.
Teaching Methods
Lectures where a detailed description of the concepts, theories and theorems is provided. Some problems are also solved to illustrate the practical applications of the theories. Problem classes where the students solve practical problems with a teacher’s guidance, developing personal and group work competencies. The students may be evaluated throughout the semester or may sit for a final examination. The requirements for the continuous assessment are defined at the beginning of the semester.
Learning Outcomes
Aims: Learning the basic physics concepts and laws enabling the (deep) understanding of electrostatic and eletromagnetic behaviours of physical systems, of optics and of radioactivity. To be able to apply these learning in searching for problem solutions.
Competencies: ability to understand a great diversity of scientific supports (theories and experiments) for Physics phenomena; ability to solve problems and to develop group work; basic preparation for more advanced courses. Oral and written communication; analysis and synthesis; organization of ideas and plannification; critical reasoning and being able to self-criticism and self assessment.
