Recommended Prerequisites

Structural analysis and load and load combinations on buildings.

Teaching Methods

In teaching the course, it is anticipated the presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics defined in the syllabus. This will be followed by exemplification . This will be complemented by case studies about the various issues.

Learning Outcomes

Basic capacities in the assessment of integrity of the existing structures, including the definition of the intervention level and its priority.

The knowledge of the basic concepts for the analysis and design of existing structures, including the assessment of the properties of the existing structures and the adoption of the most adequate processes and techniques to assure an effective execution of the intervention.

- Safety verification based on past performance of the structure

- Defenition of the intervention need

- Definition of the intervention level

- Actions and combination of actions in existing structures

 

Module II. Analises of existing structures

- Geometry

- Topology

- Materials and their properties

Metodologies and calculation models

 

Model III. Conception and design of the structural reinforcement

- Global conception of the intervention

- Design of the reinforcement

- Detailing and control of the execution.
