Structural analysis and design of timber structures.
Teaching Methods
In teaching the course, it is anticipated the presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics defined in the syllabus. This will be followed by exemplification . This will be complemented by case studies about the various issues.
Learning Outcomes
Basic knowledge about current structural materials in traditional structures (Before the widpread use of concrete)
Identification of the most relevant pathologies in traditional structures, including causes and potential consequences.
Competencies in the structural inspection of traditional buildings, including the selection of the techniques, and organization of testing campaigns.
Competencies in the definition of reinforcement interventions in timber and masonary structures, including selection of techniques, design, execution and quality control.
Monitoring of traditional structures.
