Learning Outcomes

It is usual to define "old building"as buildings constructed prior to the appearing of reinforced concrete and they will be the subject of study of this discipline.Such buildings have in common being predominantly composed of natural and less transformed materials, such as stone, lime and wood. In order to make a correct intervention in any building is essential to have a correct knowledge of the object in which we are intervening and so this curricular unit will begin with the constructive characterization of old buildings. It is also intended to transmit some knowledge about its most common defects that differ in some way, of those usually present in newer buildings.

In the third and final part of this unit it is intended to address criteria for the resolution of construtive anomalies and methodologies for the rehabilitation of old buildings with its specificities.
