Recommended Prerequisites
Knowledge in the thermal and energy performance of buildings and of computational modeling techniques.
Teaching Methods
In teaching the course, it is anticipated the presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics defined in the syllabus. Whenever possible, the practical component will be privileged with the application of the methodologies taught in solving practical problems.
Learning Outcomes
With this course it is intended that the student acquires knowledge in the field of computational analysis of construction systems from the point of view of its thermal performance, with the goal of understanding and optimizing their behaviour. At the end of the course the student should be able to build and apply simplified 1D models and detailed 2D and 3D numerical models for the analysis permanent and transient heat and moisture transfer models, either of constructive systems or of special systems, then using the information of the computational analysis in order to optimize these systems; he should also be able to perform cost / benefit analysis in order to identify the best solution for a specific problem.
