Recommended Prerequisites

Previous knowledge of building physics (thermal and acoustic) behaviour.

Teaching Methods

The presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics of the MSc course. The contents will be lectured through a number of presentations related to advanced and specific topics, which may be of interest to develop a dissertation.

Learning Outcomes

1. Students will develop research skills, including problem identification, work planning, search for relevant information for a specific topic or problem, analysis and synthesis of data.

2. Students wll develop their ability to express themselves orally and in writing, and skills for planning, elaboration of technical/scientific, and performing presentation sessions.

3. Provide the students with scientific and technologic skills required for carrying out a research work.

4. Launch the basis and the themes of the dissertations that students are required to develop.

Work Placement(s)

No

Syllabus

Lectures on current and emerging topics relating to aspects of thermal and acoustic buildings are given, related, for example, to methods of analysis and simulation that allow evaluation and optimization of thermal and acoustic performance of buildings. Students are asked develop a synthesis work related to one of the topics presented.
