Recommended Prerequisites
Level C1 in Portuguese is a prerequisite for all courses in the program.
Teaching Methods
Work on the syllabus topics will be developed from critical readings and theoretical presentations. Students are expected to complete research assignments (e.g. discussion and application of theoretical models, corpora analysis). These tasks will be developed either individually or in group, under supervision, so that they will function as an approach to research in linguistics.
Learning Outcomes
This seminar provides students with basic tools for the development of a critical thought about essential Portuguese structures. Upon completing the course, students should be able to:
1.General competencies: At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- plan, under supervision, an original research project in the areas of the course;
- select and analyse a theoretical framework, critical readings and linguistic data, according to the research aims;
- complete and to discuss original research work.
2. Specific competencies:
- discuss the notions treated in class;
- correlate Portuguese morphosyntactic, syntactic and semantic structures in Portuguese, as well as its interfaces.
