Teaching Methods

Theoretical classes approaching concepts, principles and ways of designing and implementing, by using a discursive dialectics on author’s works that is based on a systematised analysis of the issues defined in the syllabus.

Practical classes aimed at an exercise of analysis of existing physical structures – research for the project – by means of breaking it down into its most elementary parts – facilities, systems, components and materials – in order to bind the students to more complex frameworks in comparison to the previous years and the idea that architecture’s implementation is based on a transdisciplinary intersection.

The grade of each exercise will result from the consideration of the following aspects: attendance and performance in the follow-up sessions (20 %); continuity in the development of the work (15 %); answering the exercise (65 %).

Learning Outcomes

-Binding students to a deeper understanding of the process of creating form and space-the design process-as a matrix for them to mature their architectural design methodolog
-Settling in design practice the idea that architecture is an art based on coordinated applicat of the most varied fields of knowledge, and it is the ideological support for this deepening
-Implementation of a material and constructive intentionality in the characterisat of form and space adjusted to the idea that creates the architectural design process, and supported by a compositional exercise committed to structural models, infrastructural organisat strategies and construct systems consolidated in the building practice, in order to reject the handling of materials from a pictorial perspective;
-The understanding of architectural design as a synthesis tool, whose qualification refers to the function of the architect to manage the complexity inherent in the project context, and to monitor the act of construction
