History of Architecture IV.

Teaching Methods

The subject presents lessons of both theoretical and practical nature.

The lectures are essentially expository, seeking to fulfill the contents in the syllabus, with the presentation of images.

The practical classes are undertaken in the form of Discussion Groups that aim to discuss and summarize the topics chosen for the development of group work.

Learning Outcomes

The subject of History of Architecture IV aims to enable students’ contact with the movements, authors and works that are considered most determinant of the twentieth century, following the subject of History of Architecture III.

As in the first case, the aim of the course is that students acquire knowledge in this area, and be able to use it in a reflexive approach - allowing development of thought and theoretical construction; and in an active approach – envisioning an informed and cultured realization of architectural design.

Opening access to updated information on determining moments in history, it will be emphasized as this body of knowledge can stimulate intuition whether in the historiographical research, theoretical or projectual. It will also address the methodological and cultural issues of architectural history.
