Recommended Prerequisites

Mathematics and physics.   

Teaching Methods

Lectures and practical exposure to the subject. Monitoring the development of the individual work which consists in pre-sizing the structure of a building, designed by the student. Guidelines for the accomplishment of the work group, which consists of the construction of a structure of matches, to be tendered.  

Learning Outcomes

Know the basic principles of structural calculations; know the main regulatory standards; "Feel" the functioning of the structures; know the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of common structures, pre-scale structural elements; calculate simple structural components; know and avoid common mistakes.

Introduction: the history of structures; what is the stability project; learn or remember basic matters; basic structural calculation; general principles of the safety of structures: quantifying the actions on the structures; functions and types of structural components; structural design of buildings, pre-sizing of  structures, reporting failures and ways of avoiding them.
