Teaching Methods

The syllabus will be exposed in theoretical classes to enhance the interpretive analysis and develop the discipline's theoretical-practical component.
The theoretical-practical classes are oriented to developing exercises that promote the discovery of identity and integrity of the object of study and to the discussion of students' work.
The student's practical work follow-up sessions will be carried out in groups through particularized approaches, consubstantiating a space for debate, and crossing of experiences and information.
The classification of each year results from the weighting of these aspects: attendance and performance in follow-up sessions (20%), continued development work (15%) and response to exercise (65%).

Learning Outcomes

- Recognize that materials and building systems are intrinsically linked to the definition of space and architectural form;
- Understand that buildings are the result of a geographical, social, political and economic context: the ability to build a functional program with the technologies and materials existing at the time in which it is inscribed;
- Understand that building systems are an integral part of the act of designing and building since buildings are a complex system of articulation between the closure system, the structural system and the infrastructural system
- Decompose, analyze and demonstrate the structural and cladding systems present in a 20th or 21st-century building;
- Understand the order and logic of the "construction" of a building;
Understand the different scales and means of representation and the information that each one should contain;
- Acquire autonomous and systematized research habits.
