Teaching Methods

The teaching method is focused mainly on the presentation and discussion of the different means of scientific and technical communications, stressing the ethic and the high standards for those exercises, followed by the actual practice performed by the students giving an oral talk and a poster, discussed and commented by the professor and the rest of the class, as well as writing a paper to undergo through a review process by the professor.

Learning Outcomes

Main achievements:
The student should be able to identify the different means of scientific and technical comunication, in particular within the scientific community and  within the industry environment, and to organize the information either in written form or in speech. Another goal is to learn the proper way to do Oral, Poster and written comunication.

In the process it is expected that the students gain experience on:
Capacity of being updated; looking for and use bibliography.
Capacity of organization and planning and information management.
Capacity for Oral and written communication.
Capacity of analysis and conciseness.
Capacity to communicate to non-specialized people relative to his(her) area of expertise and to understand other experts outside his(her) area.
Ethic compromise and search for high standards/quality.

The role of the scientific and technical communication.
The writing and publication of a scientific paper (structure and reviewing process).
Oral and Poster presentations using "power point" or any similar application.
Technical reports and dissertations.
Reviews and presentations for general public.

Presentation of an oral talk and a poster with the respective arguence..
Presentation of a scientific paper and respective revision.
