Teaching Methods

To achieve the objectives the Seminar classes are organized in the form of discussion groups and/or more individualized follow-up on each theme chosen by the students.

The discussion groups are designed to articulate, in a comprehensive way, not only the systematization of the proposed work or its originality as well as the relevance of the topics discussed.

The central objective is to promote discussion and research on the topics covered for the thesis project, aiming to develop a critical sense about the issues under discussion.

Learning Outcomes

This cu aims to lead students to submit a Thesis Project in order to develop the capabilities:

1. To obtain the necessary information to the chosen subject;

2. To conceive an idea, in order to establish a preliminary assessment and to decide on its feasibility;

3. To communicate the validity of the analysis or proposals made;

4. To support the analytical dimensions of the case study involving innovative aspects;

5. To conceive a structural system leading to the development of the Dissertation’s themes;

6. To generate, search and organize information relevant to the development of the subject to be investigated;

7. To define the problem at hand and to decide what needs to be done;

8. To identify theoretical aspects in order to explain the implications for the issue to be investigated;

9. To perceive and to generate alternative solutions for development of the chosen theme;

10. To relate knowledge acquired in other curricular units, and so that it is relevant to the chosen topic.

Syllabus

It is intended to introduce research topics minimizing to some extent, the information to be transmitted and encouraging training aimed at developing the capacity of each student to produce a monograph related with the topics placed at theoretical and practical level.

It has an emphasis on the following objectives, both collectively under the supervision of the responsible for the course unit as well as by a tutor who will monitor each student individually during the semester:

1. encourage reflection on the topics placed beyond the given information,

2. strengthen the development of original and independent thought,

3. introduce the methodological tools necessary to the development of themes.

The outcome of this process is the development of a reasoned thesis project, to be publicly defended before a jury appointed for that purpose.
