Teaching Methods

Weekly seminars and workshops (one or two during the semester) about ongoing research of fellow 1st year students and more advanced students at UC and other schools.

 

Evaluation:

- Class participation  5%

- Research Statement 5%

- Literature Review 15%

- Presentation 15%

- Final Report/ Research Proposal 60% (awarded by a jury).

Learning Outcomes

To plan a credible research path, defining the methodology and the chronogram for the work that will lead to a PhD Dissertation.

 This main learning outcome involves:

O1. To know different types of Dissertation in Sustainable Energy Systems, the ongoing research in different schools, and open themes for future research.

O2. To identify an original research question and to establish the dissertation objectives.

O3. To summarize and present critically the state of the art concerning the chosen research question.

O4. To adopt a methodology and to outline a research proposal that allows achieving the dissertation objectives.

 These learning outcomes contribute to develop several generic skills, namely those of critical reasoning, analysis and synthesis, planning, and group interaction.
