Teaching Methods

Each topic covers one or two lectures, plus one class for the students presentations. In the lectures, we will focus on selected papers and discuss their research question, related theory, data, identification strategies, estimation techniques and policy implications. At the end of each topic, students will present and discuss related papers not yet covered in the lectures

Learning Outcomes

This course introduces students to the research methods in applied empirical industrial economics. Special attention will be paid to the most recent empirical literature. By the end of this course, students are expected to: first, have solid and critical understanding of the major empirical literature; second, be able to start their own empirical research on industrial economics topics; and third, be able to communicate the results and conclusions of their own research in bothwritten and oral format.
