- Advisory guidance directed towards the achievement of the objectives
- Original research work (quantitative and qualitative).
- Conducting critical discussions among peers.
- Design and synthesis work on the theme to be developed within the thesis.
Learning Outcomes
a) Systematic monitoring and supervision of the research by the advisor with a view to the preparation, elaboration and justification by the doctoral student a solid research project, to present and defend in a public examinations for degree of doctor;
b) Knowledge, location and correct treatment by doctoral students of the sources and relevant bibliographical resources for the project, both in conventional and digital media;
c) Deepening of skills and knowledge in the organization and use of conventions to annotate, quote documentary sources (handwritten and printed), bibliographic and electronic, as well as all those necessary and appropriate to research work;
d) Discussion and critical reflection on the conceptualization and most appropriate methodologies to be applied to research and development;
f) Encouragement of autonomy in pursuit of agreed upon objectives in terms of results and deadlines to be achieved.

Since the purpose is essentially to apply the advisor guidance (especially in person, or using other means and platforms), there is no fixed syllabus nor an absolutely rigid timetable. Research practices, methods of bibliographic exploration, "state of the art" (critical and reflexive activity), as research questions will obviously be the subject of discussion and clarification. At the beginning of the work the student and professor will define the most appropriate methodologies according to the research theme.
