French Language Literature and Culture II

Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of French, spoken and written, B2 level.

Teaching Methods

This seminar will include: introductions and lectures on theory; Comments on texts by students, individually or in groups; presentation of partial work; monitoring the preparation of individual written work.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to question the structure of twentieth century French literature and conduct research so as to understand other realities and contexts of French Literature.

Syllabus

This class will focus on cultural production, especially literary, from francophone countries such as Belgium, Switzerland (romande), Canada and the Maghreb. In order to present an essentially current view, this seminar will present some incursions by French literature and culture prior to the twentieth-century as well as to take a chronological view that may help to understand the cultural and literary phenomena, and how they fit the general history of peoples and cultures to which they belong.
