Recommended Prerequisites

The student must have knowledge in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomathematics, corresponding to UCs taught in 1st cycle (1st and 2nd year) of MIM. The student must have the domain of  English enough to read and understand scientific articles and other bibliography.

Teaching Methods

Lectures (4hrs) theoretical and practical classes with a resolution of problem cases (10hrs).

Learning Outcomes

Understand the importance of Cytogenetics and Genomics in Medicine.  Assess and identify the different technological tools in the field of medicine. Analyze and discuss practical cases of Cytogenetics and Genomics and relate them with different clinical specialties.

Interpret clinical cases taking into account the good laboratory practices. Assess the implications of laboratory management in different clinical situations, analyzing its impact for the patient, the family, the National Health System and society in general. Discuss the associated ethical issues.
