Theoric lessons and presentation of pratical cases. Visit to the Intensive Care Unit (CHUC)

Learning Outcomes

Should learn the history of critical care medicine, its impact on modern medicine, since it is the artificial maintenance of vital functions during the acute phase of the disease. Addressing the most important issues of patients admitted to intensive care and are important in therapeutic chapters in Intensive Care Medicine - see syllabus.

Severe sepsis - clinic and treatment. The Surviving Sepsis Compaingn (SSC)

Orotraqueal intubation and invasive artificial ventilation. The VAP - ventilator associated pneumonia)

Acute poisoning (organophosphate pesticides, …) Antidotes.

Gasometric interpretation.

Initial treatment of the severe politrauma patient. Cristaloids and colloids.

Brain death. Organ donation.
