Teaching Methods
In the practical classes, the most relevant concepts and theoretical results are presented in detail , accompanied by illustrative examples of the theory in a simple but motivating applications and appropriate historical framework. In practical classes students must solve exercises. The fundamental theoretical concepts presented in lectures are accompanied by practical problem solving, and the use of equipment and global positioning systems satellite software. Students may undertake projects in order to put into practice the knowledge acquired.
Learning Outcomes
The main goal is that students acquire skills in global positioning systems applied to solving problems from different areas, including cartography, cadastre, environmental monitoring or planning and land navigation and positioning systems. Accordingly, further study of Spatial Positioning Systems will be done taking into account the various methods of positioning and navigation. Observational techniques and data processing according to the objectives through theoretical and practical study will be analyzed.

1. History, Evolution and Perspectives of Navigation and Positioning Systems
Navigation and Global Positioning Systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS).
Instrumentation for positioning and satellite navigation.
2. The Global Positioning System (GPS)
Positioning Modes, error sources, data processing strategies.
3. Real-Time Kinematic Positioning
Mathematical models of differential corrections. Modeling errors. Methods and corrections of phase and code formats. Integrity, reliability, continuity and availability.
4. Navigation
Architecture of Systems Based in Location. Cartography for navigation systems. Integrated sensors.
