Teaching Methods

The seminar uses continuous evaluation: presentation of content, clarification of doubts and tasks assigned  by the professors; presentation and discussion of comments and tasks by students.

Learning Outcomes

The aim is to publicize the existence and characteristics of the areas of knowledge and intervention called "culture of organizations" and "safeguarding of cultural heritage"; draw attention to its potential as a usable technology in the management of public institutions and private organizations; warn of the urgency and the advantages of a generalization of the referenced practices.

Students will acquire skills and recognition of the existence of the benefits of cooperation between "culture of organizations" and "safeguarding of cultural heritage"; to link these to areas such as urban and land use planning, architecture and design, marketing and advertising, museology and cultural tourism, education and training.

1 - Organizational culture, cultural heritage and management of public institutions or private organizations: introduction to an integrated approach. 

2 - Role of organizational culture and the cultural heritage management perspective: instrumental or structural? 

3 - Organizations, organizational culture, protection and monetization of their own cultural heritage. 

4 - Organizational Culture and involvement of organizations in safeguarding cultural heritage in general. 

5 - Areas of cultural heritage and modes of intervention by private or public organizations. 

6 - Programmatic options, legislation and administrative conditioning: awarding or penalizing behaviors in organizations. 

7 - The Portuguese reality: characteristics and comparison with the situation in other (more or less developed and with similar or different political regimes) countries.
