Teaching Methods

The seminar uses continuous evaluation: presentation of content, clarification of doubts and tasks assigned  by the professors; presentation and discussion of comments and tasks by students.

Learning Outcomes

The aim is to learn the concepts of "material culture", "industrial heritage" and "new museology", integrating them in their respective contexts of emergence and evolution.  We analyze the categories in question from the areas of "culture" or "civilization" and "cultural heritage" and "museology".  Students learn to identify specific areas - and their characteristics - both of "material culture", as well as musealization of "industrial heritage".

Students will learn how to be part of the debate about the notion of "material culture" and the social usefulness of investments in "industrial heritage"; analysis of study and intervention initiatives in the subcategories of "material culture", "industrial heritage" and museology; participation in research and dissemination related projects, education and training, preservation and musealization of significant traces of "material culture".
