Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge and skills acquired in Pediatrics I which syllabus related theoretical context framing of pediatric care and their indicators, passing through the area of neonatology, growth, nutrition, neurodevelopment and behavior, immunization and currents clinical conditions and diseases in pediatrics population.

Teaching Methods

Lectures - two hours per week, must be present in 80%, which addresses all program content.

Practical classes - three hours a week, record attendance, taught in groups 19-20 students. Each class is always accompanied by the same teacher. These classes are directed primarily to the domain of the acquisition of skills and attitudes necessary to perform a query of child health. Different teaching techniques are used as in small groups learning.

Learning Outcomes

Learning of Pediatrics II aims to equip pupils skills that will settle the already acquired in Pediatrics I and join other specifically related diseases and other medical conditions that most often afflict the welfare of the pediatric population. In the future, such as general practitioners, must be able to ensure the health of the population aged 0 to 18 years at the primary care level. For this they have to know: 1-hold consultations child health surveillance; 2 Deal with  the most frequent situations in pediatric practice; 3- Timely referencing problems that should be targeted for hospital pediatric services or other; 4-Follow in conjunction with the hospital staff, children with more frequent chronic conditions, or in convalescence and integrate them into community support systems.

Chronic diarrhea. Constipation, encopresis and enurese. Common surgical conditions. Frequent orthopedic problems and variants of normal. Most common skin problems in pediatrics. Urinary tract infection. Infection of skin and soft tissues. Bacteraemia and sepsis. Meningitis and meningoencephalitis. Edema. Most common renal diseases. Most common heart diseases. Polyuria and polidipsia.Purpuric exanthemas. Anaemia. Oncologic diseases. Headaches. Seizure disease and other critical phenomena.  Most common epileptic syndromes. When suspected metabolic disease. Genetics in Pediatrics. A child undergoing organ transplantation. Accidents. Intoxication and addictive behavior. Abused child. Most common drugs used in pediatrics and iatrogenic. The laboratory in Pediatrics. Basic and advanced life support in Pediatrics. Regular discussion of clinical cases in scenarios.
