Teaching Methods

The theoretical teaching of Obstetrics discipline, taking into account the choices of the institution, the number of students and teachers, will be implemented through classes, traditionally called masterful exhibition of type, which take place once a week and a duration of 60 minutes.

The practical teaching of 3 hours per week. Practical classes take place in the HUC Obstetrics Service (Maternity Daniel de Matos and Biomedical Simulation Center Chuc.

Gynecology -1 hour weekly theoretical and 3 hours weekly practice session

Learning Outcomes

The Obstetrics aims at learning on the provision of health care during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The monitoring and medical intervention concern to women - pregnant and postpartum women - and the embryo / fetus from conception to birth. The acquisition of theoretical and practical skills aims to provide a solid foundation of knowledge of physiology and pathophysiology of pregnancy, labor and delivery, enabling the future physician to promote maternal and fetal health, ensure the clinical assessment of a normal pregnancy and properly identify the pregnancies that require more specialized care.

The essential aim of undergraduate teaching Gynecology designed to gain by students of knowledge as future physicians in the area of family medicine, regardless of the health unit in which will be inserted to enable it to provide care women's health during all stages of his life except pregnancy and postpartum.
