Recommended Prerequisites

A. Knowledge:

Basic knowledge acquired in the mandatory curricular units of the 1st and 2nd years of Integrated Master's degree in Medicin.

Ability to read and understand the recommended bibliography, as well as written and oral expression, in Portuguese and English.

 

 

B. Aptitudes and Attitudes:

Aptitudes: Ability to use informatic resources for bibliographic research of new scientific content that helps in independent study and in the preparation of oral presentations.

Attitudes: Motivation and ability to study independently, critical thinking, openness to continuous and integrated learning and ability to work in groups.

Teaching Methods

There are theorical lessons in the classroom, and teaching  in groups, performing tasks or solving problems or clinical cases. The student will also develop a Personal Medication Formulary, choosing drugs in a way  rationally structured.

Learning Outcomes

To know  pharmacological groups for organs and systems, highlighting the most important drugs. Apply concepts of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Structuring the knowledge, so as to enable a rational therapy.

2. Drugs for the digestive tract and liver.

3. Hemostasis pharmacology. Treatment of anemia and other blood diseases.

4. Pharmacology of the cardiovascular system.

5. Drugs for the respiratory system.

6. Renal system and drugs.

7. Pharmacology of diseases of the metabolism. Hormones and related drugs.

8. Cancer pharmacology.
