Teaching Methods

Students are constantly asked to intervene. Emphasis will be placed on the analysis and translation of Latin texts. The grammatical content will be introduced from the texts studied. Sentences version into Latin as a way of consolidating grammatical content. Students work in the classroom is done individually or in small groups. Students are invited to prepare short presentations and texts at home. The evaluation is therefore continuous.

Learning Outcomes

1. Consolidation of the knowledges acquired in the 1st cycle, by deepening Latin’s morphology and syntax and the appropriate use of historical phonetics and morphology, so as to provide solid foundations for the future pedagogical practice;

2. Developing skills of analysis and translation of texts from Latin authors in high school syllabus, and recognition of the features that distinguish the style of each author;

3. Highlighting features of Greek and Latin culture apparent in the texts studied.

Syllabus

1. Analysis and translation of texts of selected Latin authors in accordance with the programs of high school and the needs of future teachers;

2. Morphology: deepening and consolidation of knowledge through the study of historical morphology and systematic elements of historical phonetics;

3. Latin Syntax: general systematization of language structures, including some expressions of colloquial language;

4. Lexical and etymological relations;

5. Features predominant style of the authors in the study;

6. Themes Greco-Roman culture, or occurring in the text proposed by the Secondary Education programs.
