Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge acquired in the units of the area of Linguistics offered in the 1 cycle of Portuguese.

Teaching Methods

The syllabus topics are developed through explanations, supplemented by class discussions and empirical data analysis. The teaching  method thus intersects lectures and student collaboration.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing  the course, the student is expected to:

- master the core concepts covered in the syllabus;

- identify deictic expressions in a textand understand its functionality ;

- correlate a number of linguistic structures in Portuguese with different communicative goals and distinct social contexts of interaction;

- understand the inference processes through which implicit meanings are recovered;

identify and solve problems related to text/discourse cohesion.
