Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge in the field of Human Geography (Economic Geography, Urban Geography, Cultural Geography, Social Geography, Land Planning and Management) and technical skills in data analysis and mapping (Data Analysis in Geography, Cartography and Systems Geographic Information).

Teaching Methods

In order to stimulate the application of knowledge and encourage research, this seminar uses methods focusing on research and bibliographical analysis; the collection of statistical and documental elements (and other field work tasks); field trips; data analysis and processing; the use of computer tools for the presentation of papers in class; designing and producing research papers.

Learning Outcomes

In order to discuss the key elements and factors associated with innovation, innovators and creative territories and the role of public policies in dynamic innovative students should be able to:

- Analyze the society and economy of knowledge / learning.

- Highlight the importance of knowledge for innovation.

- Characterize the process of innovation.

- Relate space and knowledge networks and innovation.

- Discuss the possibilities of measuring innovation.

- Characterize the components of territorial capital.

- Discuss the conditions for the formation and development of innovative and creative territories.

- Characterize different types of innovative and creative territories.

- Discuss the role that different types of innovative and creative territories play in regional development. 

- Relate territorial dynamics of innovation and innovation policies.

- Provide guidelines for innovation policies.
