Teaching Methods

Teaching methods encourage the presentation of statistical methods used in social sciences, and the interpretation of the results obtained with the use of computer programs for statistical processing.  The practical component is used as the fundamental instrument teaching and learning.

Learning Outcomes

This class seeks to continue the process of students with a set of skills for handling, processing and analyzing data in the field of Geography.

At this level, the class is geared more to analysis of data.

Specifically, focus is on the organization of qualitative and quantitative data, the description of the data, the relationship between variables and multivariable analysis.

Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the following areas:

- Correct organization of qualitative and quantitative data arrays;

- Choice of methodologies appropriate to the purposes of research analysis;

- Numeric, graphic and cartographic organization of results using different statistical methodologies;

- Interpretation of results;

- Use of the statistical analysis program (SPSS Statistics).
