Teaching Methods
The theoretical classes will develop a theoretical and expository component which will be complemented with a more practical part (practical lessons), closely related to the application of acquired knowledge, research, realization of practical activities, exploration of some indicators and statistical tools applied to Geography of Transport and Communications. We will adopt a teaching method targeted to the discussion, problem solving and practical development activities, in a student-centered perspective and its competencies.
Learning Outcomes
Discuss the importance of transports and communications in modern societies
Understand the processes of evolution and prospects relating to the study of transports, communications and mobility
Interpret the dynamics of the relations between time and space
Learn the main terminologies, characteristics and the dynamics of networks
Analyze the spatial diversity of transport networks and the factors that influence their evolution
Understand the complexity of the relationship between transport systems, of the levels of development, the supply/demand and the organization of the territory
Frame the new "virtual" geography, based on the dynamics of ICT, digital economy and internet, in the context of processes of globalization, connectivity and competitiveness of the present world
Discuss the challenges faced by the development of the transport and communications sector by analyzing the consequences on human activities, space, environment and in the development of strategies and policies
