Teaching Methods

Classes include lectures to introduce topics of the syllabus and discussion in which students are encouraged to participate. Reading exercises are proposed, with analysis and discussion of relevant texts and theoretical-practical sessions designed to illustrate the subjects, with practical classes in UC libraries and Archive. At the end of the semester, classes will be taken up with oral presentations by students and joint discussion of the work carried out.

Evaluation includes the preparation and group presentation of a practical work of research/application of knowledge acquired and a test.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students are expected to:

– Understand and assimilate, rationally and critically, the concepts of Preservation, Conservation and Restoration;

– Understand and apply basic notions related to the preservation and conservation of graphic documents;

– Acquire skills to assess the state of conservation of collections;

– Carry out diagnostics of pathologies in graphic documents, and are able to implement global and strategic programs within the framework of Preservation/Preventive Conservation.
