Teaching Methods
The curricular unit benefits from theoretical lessons, complemented by real case studies. The elements used to measure learning results are periodic tests and problem resolving reports.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: i) define and criticize the concepts of archival information, archives and archive systems, contextualizing correctly their application; ii) define, characterize and apply theories and practices underlying the acquisition and classification of information in archives, emphasizing their relevance to the organization and management of information; iii) define, characterize and apply theories and practices underlying the appraisal of information in archives, understanding its relevance to the information management; iv) define, characterize and apply theories, principles, rules and standards in archival representation; v) identify and apply good practices in preservation and access in archives; vi) identify and discuss current challenges in organization and management of information in archives, emphasizing areas for future studies and research.
