Teaching Methods

This theoretical-practical course will make use of the resources available at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, complying with the syllabus and structured as follows: presentation of the syllabus; discussion of reference texts, encouraging student participation. The practical classes are aimed at carrying out exercises, in particular online research into sources of scientific information, citation and bibliographic referencing, and conducting reference interviews. This approach will be complemented by group and/or individual work.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course students should be able to:
a) recognize the importance of bibliography and standardization in the current information environment;
b) know the sources of scientific information;
c) carry out basic research into scientific information sources;
d) distinguishing and referencing the different types of information sources in a standardised way;
e) understand the functions, objectives and profile of reference services.
