Teaching Methods
Teaching combines theoretical lessons on major subject with debate on texts and problems discussion.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should:
a) understand the complexity of the concept of "modernity";
b) identify the novelty introduced by "modern philosophy";
c) recognize structural elements of "modern philosophy";
d) understand the fundamental concepts of Machiavelli, Descartes, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel;
e) know at least one text of two of these authors;
f) be able to analyse thoroughly philosophical texts.

The course should: a) consolidate basic concepts of European History (reason, social contract, citizenship, historicity); b) exercise skills to ophilosophical reading through an intensive contact with texts; c) undertake a monographic deepening of authors and works.
