Understand the evolution and the significance of the EU as a global actor

Identify the institutional architecture that provide the basis for the EU’s external action 

Compare the EU's external role across several policy areas

Identify and explain the most important obstacles to the EU’s exercise and enhancement of its external policies

Understand external perceptions regarding the EU’s actorness.
