Teaching Methods
The class is theoretical-practical in nature: presentation of content, clarification of doubts and tasks assigned by the teacher; presentation and discussion of comments and tasks by students.
Learning Outcomes
The goal of this class is to provide usable information about the background, context of the emergence and evolution of the EEC/EU since the end of World War II to the present day. It seeks to compare different texts by researchers in history and other social sciences. It focuses attention on the ideological-political, economic and financial aspects; the European and global scenarios; the central, peripheral and semi-peripheral countries; in the capitalist states and "real socialism."
Students will acquire skills in the collection and processing of data, both about the process of "community integration", and about the recent developments in Europe and the world; recognition of distinguishing features and very underdeveloped nations, capitalist and socialist countries, different political regimes; contextualization of current phenomena such as "neoliberal globalization" and a possible "clash of civilizations".
