Teaching Methods

Theaching methods are composed of theoretical-practical classes. The theoretical part is composed of lectures where the professor exposes the essential contents of the syllabus. The practical component comprehends two strategies: a) in-class debates, focused on defined problematics for each policy and based on previous academic readings; b) simulation of a negotiation in the Council of the EU, concerning different policies.  

Learning Outcomes

The cu has as basic learning goals that the student develop solid knowledge about the main internal policies of the European Union.

At the end of the semester, students are expected to:

1. Understand the institutional architecture of each policy

2. Analyse each policy within the scope of competences of the EU

3. Know the historical path of each policy through an integrated way with other EU domains

4. Problematise the policies in relation with their institutional architecture

5. Problematise the policies under the paradigm of conciliation of the common and national interests

6. Formulate a scientific grounded critical vision, to evaluate each policy in relation with the EU goals;

7. Show a scientific grounded critical awareness about the opportunities and constraints of the European integration, considering the several EU policy competences.
