Teaching Methods
To achieve the learning outcomes, this curricular unit combines the expository method with more practical teaching methods, including the critical analysis of recommended readings for each topic, and audiovisual elements aiming at fostering an the active engagement of students in the classroom, thus providing a valuable complement to their academic path. To the same purpose, students will develop case-study analysis skills through the elaboration and discusson of academic papers.
Learning Outcomes
This curricular unit aims at exposing students to the historical and political context leading to the emergence of International Organizations, and provide them the main tools to classify International Organisations and pinpoint their structure, goals and competences. Additionally, this curricular unit envisages to prepare students to in-depth understand the importance of International Organizations in the contemporary global governance structure.
At the end of the semester, students should be able to:
1. Understand the genesis of International Organizations
2. Distinguish the different types of International Organizations
3. Assess accurately the role and structure of the most important International Organizations
4. Understand the dynamics of regional integration phenomena
5. Grasp the concept of "global governance" and map the positioning and influence of International Organizations in contemporary world politics.
