Teaching Methods

The class is theoretical-practical in nature: presentation of content, clarification of doubts and tasks assigned  by the teacher; presentation and discussion of comments and tasks by students.

Learning Outcomes

Students will gain a  deeper knowledge of usable information about (some of) the principal moments of crisis that occurred during the twentieth century, regarding proposed solutions to overcome the respective situations. Of particular note are the two major military conflicts and the decades of 1920/1930, periods that emerged  many of the solutions, behaviors and ideologies present in contemporary societies.

Students will acquire capabilities for collecting and processing data on the crises of the twentieth century as a time of suffering and overcoming/creating obstacles; Identification of regions, nations and groups of countries that have managed to overcome difficulties and those who were limited by them; analysis of international bodies and spaces of political integration as a consequence - direct or indirect - of the crisis at hand.

2 - World War I and the twenties.

3 - The "Crash of 1929" and the "Great Depression".

4 - World War II and the immediate postwar period.

5 - The "Cold War".

6 - From the "oil shock" to the collapse of the "socialist bloc".

7 - The upheavals of the post-"Cold War".

8 - The "Crisis of 2008."
