Lessons with student participation and theoretical discussion of the themes, complemented with the analysis of practical examples and the use of texts, maps and other materials, in addition to practical issues investigated and presented by students.

Learning Outcomes

Students will acquire knowledge and critical skills of heterogeneous geohuman, cultural, and European identity reality, its relationship with the major challenges of political geography of this continent and potential factors of conflict.

1 - Territorial and geohuman structure of the European continent: biases, recent dynamics and asymmetries

2 - Europe's cultural and territorial identities, between the European values and the regionalist assertions

3 - The political dimension of territoriality and identity conflicts on the European continent.
 Analysis and critical discussion of examples

4 - The borders and border and territorial conflicts in Europe

5 - Other challenges and geopolitical tensions in Europe: the energy problem

6 - Europe and the perception of insecurity in the face of the European continent's multiterritoriality and spatial flexibility of networks of actors, drug trafficking criminal organizations and terrorists

7 - Political management of the territorial conflicts and the (in)security in Europe

8 - Europe in the global context of Political Geography.
